This book is full of codes, ciphers, and really cool inventions. (Also, maybe, just maybe, one very cute dog.) There are 6 books currently published, and all are good. It takes place in the U.S.A, mainly in Washington D.C. There is a cipher that each new part is unlocked by solving puzzles and riddles, to find where each new piece is found, and this spans all the books. It’s told in third-person, and the adventure element really kicks in the second book.

The main character, Cruz Coronado, lives in Hawaii. Cruz is adventurous, smart, and a leader. He has recently been accepted into Explorer Academy, where future explorers are trained. However when he gets there, he realizes someone may be trying to kill him, and it may be the same people who killed his mother. Cruz finds himself trying to figure the clues and codes his mom left him, before it will be to late. Please read this book, because the series only gets better and better.
