Setting:
This book takes place in Phonix, Ariozona, and is told in 1st person. The main chracter of this book is Luke Hunter, a teenage boy who moves to Phoenix, Arizona. This is the first book in a series, and the main genres are adventure and mystery.
Plot
Luke Hunter's parents just got a divorce. He now has to move to Phoenix, Arizona with his mom, which nobody consulted him about. His mom got a great job in a new community of employees of Shackelton Co-operative. In Phoenix, there are no cars, only bikes, no TV, and worst of all for Luke, no phones. On one of Luke's first days at school, he finds a flashdrive with the intials "JB" scratched on them. His new friend, Peter, leads him to the second newest kid in Phoenix, Jordan. She has recieved a similar flashdrive, one with his initials on it. Peter helps decipher the video file that had been spilt between the two flashdrives. It shows two people talking about something called Tabitha, which will destroy the world. The video says that a 100 day countdown has begun, which started when Luke came to Phoenix. After this, Luke finds a note in his bag, which tells him to go to the airport. The airport has been closed down after Luke came, and is eerily empty. At the airport, the three kids meet with Crazy Bill, who is homeless. But when security guards come around, Crazy Bill beats them up and escapes. Later, Crazy Bill attacks Luke, for no reason at all. When the kids decide it is time to take matters into their own hands, they go out biking as far as they can. After a long time, Luke, Peter, and Jordan reach a wall. As in a actual, 3 story high wall. The question is, what is it for? To keep people in? Or to keep something out? With only 97 days left till the end of the world, can the trio figure out the mystery of Phoenix before it is too late?
Recommendation:
This book was a pretty good start to what should be a great series. There was a lot of good mystery elements and it had some nice suspense. The characters could use a little more backstory, but that should come in turn. I liked the plot and the whole "doomsday is coming" feeling. I'm excited to read the next books, and I hope you are excited to read this book.
