Setting:
This book follows the adventure of Reynie Muldoon, Sticky Washington, Kate Weatherall, and Constance Contraire, four children, after the events of “The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey”. It is told in first person, and takes place in a city called Stonetown. This book is an mystery adventure.
Plot:
Reynie Muldoon, Sticky Washington, Kate Weatherall, and Constance Contraire are living normal lives after the defeat of Mr. Curtain and one of his evil plans. Well, normal would be pushing it. The children live in a house with Mr. Benedict, his associates, and their families that is guarded, and watched day and night. But when they find out that the Whisperer, Curtain’s greatest, or most diabolical machine is about to be taken from Mr. Benedict’s custody, and will be relocated, the Society is frightened. To make matters worse, a rich man shows up on the doorstep claiming to be Constance’s father. To retrieve the little girl’s long-lost memory, they must use the Whisperer. After doing so, Constance runs away, and as one bad thing leads to another, Dr. Curtain chooses that moment to unleash his evil plan. Shrouded in darkness, and with a member on the loose, will the Society find Constance? Or will they not make it out of Dr. Curtain’s hands?
Recommendation:
This book is just as good as it’s precursors! It combines the perfect amount of adventure, action, mystery, and humor for an amazing book. This book is outstanding, and definitely is one for the reading list.
