I’ve read this book only once, and yet it is one of my top picks. It is partially because I think hamsters are ULTRA cute, and also because it is a very good book. This book is science fiction, but takes place in the present, and is written in 1st person. It only has one confusing paradox, (That ends quickly) and has no very fast-paced adventures.


The main character, Al Chaudhury (short for Albert Einstein Hawking Chaudhury) lives with his mom, his step-dad, and his stepsister. He receives two main things on his birthday. A hamster and a hamster cage, and a letter from his dad. (The hamster’s name is Alan Shearer.) The letter instructs him to go back in time and prevent a go-kart accident that will eventually kill his father. This story involves one kid, one zinc tub, and one very cute hamster…
